Become a Farm Member !
Join our unique 2025 farm membership program and grow your community as well as your own food!
Many people dream of living on a farm, growing their own healthy food, raising chickens, getting their hands dirty, and enjoying the fresh air and sunlight. With land and resource prices higher than ever this dream seems less and less attainable. Even if you are fortunate enough to have the space you will quickly find out that farming is expensive and also very time and labor intensive. This membership aims to bring it’s members access to farming while also drastically reducing the individual expense and workload.
Members are welcome to meet at the farm every Saturday throughout the growing season (May-Oct). Depending on the weather we may sometimes opt for Sunday. Together we will work on the myriad tasks involved in farming: planting and caring for the gardens, moving the chickens, and working on special projects. Expect also to spend a good bit of time just hanging out enjoying good company. In the summer there is a pool for cooling off. Life gets busy for all of us so attendance is never mandatory.
Arrowhead Farm is located in South Jersey about 40 minutes from Philadelphia. We share our ~12 acres with an abundance of wildlife and do our best to factor their well-being into our activities. We don’t use any chemical pesticides or herbicides and strive to disturb the the soil as minimally as needed. Gardens are built in a deep compost market garden style largely utilizing organic mushroom compost. Expect to grow and enjoy fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberry, mulberry, lettuce, arugla, kale, spinach, broccoli, carrots, beans, radish, peppers, tomatoes, onion, garlic, cucumber, zucchini, watermelon, various herbs, and flowers. Weekly tasks will include things like moving the chickens to fresh pasture, maintaining beds, harvesting crops, washing crops, pruning/ trellising, and everything in between.
This is both a farming and community building experiment and this is the first year we are trying it, for this reason we are limiting the number of members while we work the kinks out. So if this intrigues you, make sure to book your spot sooner than later. Membership fees will be used to pay for animal feed, equipment and supplies, land expenses, and to fund future improvements and projects. We also intend to document the progress on Youtube for others to enjoy so you would need to be ok with that sort of thing.
Since we will be growing crops only for our members we will be free to experiment, fail, and learn. Members can take home their fair share of anything we produce. Tools and materials will be provided and no prior farming experience is necessary - just a good attitude, a desire to work/learn, and a sense of humor is always appreciated. We all know that small scale agriculture attracts a lot of passionate people who want to improve the world but let us state up front:
We are very much NOT interested in policing each other’s speech, walking on egg shells in fear of unintentionally offending one another, getting wrapped up in culture war issues, identity politics, or any sort of political tribalism; so if that’s your schtick please don’t bring that energy here. After all, the most important thing we will be growing is ~ good vibrations ~ !
